1) Warnings that the smeter could interfere with other household appliances using the same frequency. The 2.4 GHz frequency mentioned in the article is the same that the ZigBee chip will use once BC Hydro forces activation of it to gather data from other ‘smart’ appliances in the home.

Why a smart meter could stop your microwave working…. or play havoc with a stairlift or baby monitor
“Installing a smart energy meter in your home could stop your stairlift, baby monitor or microwave working, two major companies have revealed.
Nearly eight million households have switched from analogue gas and electricity meters to digital as part of a national upgrade.
But Stannah, the UK’s best-known stairlift maker, says it is concerned that radio waves emitted by smart meters could cause ‘interference’ with its chairs…
One homeowner, who wished to remain anonymous, said his stairlift stopped working after his smart meter was put in.
‘The stairlift worked really well until we had a smart meter installed with a small black box that sent a signal to my mobile phone showing our usage,’ he says. ‘The stairlift kept stopping and the remote would only work off and on.’
He’d had a new router installed, too, and thought that could be causing the issues. He tried unplugging the wireless printer, disconnecting the internet router and getting the stairlift checked out by an engineer. But nothing worked.
He says: ‘The small smart meter box has been removed and the app is no longer on my phone, so I can’t see how much energy we are using.’
Wireless technology expert Nick Hunn says customers can face problems because so many gadgets use the same 2.4GHz radio frequency and their signals become jumbled.”

2) In Michigan, it is against the law to cut power to those refusing to have a smeter, unlike BC where BC Hydro has been allowed to disconnect power, even during the winter.
Michigan Public Service Commission dismisses senator’s utility meter claims as baseless
“The Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) affirmed it is against state law for customers who have chosen not to switch to smart meters to suddenly have their power shut off, in response to a state senator’s allegations.
At the heart of the matter is the issue of smart meters, which utilities have been rolling out throughout the state to replace aging analog meters. These allow data on energy measurement to be collected remotely in real time, reducing the need for estimated billing and on site meter readers. The state has required upgrades to the new technology, but some are resistant, and those resisters, state Sen. Patrick Colbeck (R-Canton) argued, were paying a hefty price.”
3) Elizabeth May, the leader of the Green Party, has expressed concern about the smeter’s microwave radiation, but has been supportive of the smeter program because she believes the industry’s scam that the smeters will reduce energy usage and they will help the environment. The Greens need to realize that there is nothing green about the smeters. Nowhere has energy usage been reduced. The RF damages bees, trees, etc. (as well as us). The manufacture and disposal of smeters every 5-7 years is harmful. Not only must the plastics be disposed of or recycled, the lithium batteries must be, too. This is not an environment- friendly product, quite the opposite. The analog, being glass and metal with no damaging components and lasting several decades, is far more environmentally-friendly.

Dear Dr. Weaver, Ms. Furstenau and Mr. Olsen,
We are delighted when your party moved a major step forward in the last election, as my uncle was a founding member of the Green Party of Germany, at a time when “green” was unheard of. He was far ahead of his time!
We hope that your new government coalition will initiate changes and environmental reviews, regarding Site C, as well as the remarkably the ill conceived “smart meter” program, which now blankets homes, communities and the environment, with radiation pollution. Adding insult to injury, the previous government ‘green painted’ “smart meter” e-smog pollution, with unfounded claims of safety, and reduced power consumption. (Any RF meter will verify that they emit microwave radiation pulses, thousands of times a day, throughout a home)
The previous government allowed BC Hydro to deliberately deceive the public with impunity, impose outlandish rate increases, threaten, stonewall, intimidate and even extort, without any intervention of the BCUC. Small business owners would find themselves in prison for committing such outrageous and irresponsible acts.
Recent science released thousands of peer reviewed papers, reporting adverse biological effects from low level, pulsed, non-ionizing radiation, to man, insects, animals and plants. Man-made radiation has skyrocketed in recent years, exceeding the natural radiation of earth by billions of times! (A quality RF meter will confirm this statement, if you have any doubt.)
The Austrian Medical Association points out the fact, that most people are not aware of the biological EMF triggers, which can cause adverse physical reactions and debilitating illness. They also mention in the Austrian EMF Guideline, that physicians frequently misdiagnose patients which results in unnecessary prescriptions, simply because they are not trained in the field of EMF diagnosis.
Dr. Genuis, at the University of Alberta, is now teaching medical students about the biological effects of non-ionizing radiation to medical students.

We discovered that there are millions of people around the world who suffer the devastating consequences of electro-smog pollution, which for the last few years also includes my wife. The distinguished former head of Norway and the WHO, Dr. Gro Harlem Brundtlandt, who led the UN Commission on the Environment and Development, is among them as well as engineers, architects, airline pilots, concert musicians, physicians, teachers, scientists, students, and even little children.
Dr. Riina Bray, of the The Environmental Health Clinic & Womans College Hospital in Toronto, reports that they they see a massive increase of patients, suffering dire health effects from electro-smog radiation pollution.
According to German and Australian scientists and economists, “smart meters” did not reduce electrical consumption, voiding claims of fiscal and environmental sustainability. Only excessive energy consumers, registered marginal savings.
The life span of BC Hydro’s UL uncertified, plastic “smart meters” is 5 to 7 years, at a whopping cost of $ 555.00 each. In contrast, UL certified traditional analog meters (Marcus misspoke re the analog. It was not certified and didn’t need to be. It was electromechanical, very different from digital/smeters.), made of solid steel and glass, last 40 to 50 years, at a cost of $50.00, a piece!
The internet is full of melted, burned “smart meters” and homes, as a result of arcing and overheating.
The Liberal party’s “smart meter” hubris should make any environmentalist and economist cringe.
In light of this, we urge you to call for an immediate review of the “smart meter” program, as the cost of this folly will have immense repercussions in years to come, economically as well as environmentally.
