1)    In Ontario, an environmental group has signed on to support “smart” devices that are dependent on smeters. We have not done enough to address the “greening” of this project. Even people like Elizabeth May still believe that the smeter program is beneficial because it will save energy, despite all of the info to the contrary that has been sent. Now new gadgets are being promoted that will depend on the home having a smeter, ones that, in fact, will help gather private information.

The damage could, over time, cause increased resistance in the connector and, due to subsequent terminal relaxation, result in an open circuit condition. 

Consequence: The open circuit could lead to electrical arcing that could melt the connector housing material creasing the potential for a fire. 

Actions: Dealers will install a new heater blower resistor and a new wire jumper harness. Owner notification began August 29, 2001. Owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact Ford at 1-800-392-3673. The FCC is asking for public comments, but that drew the following comments from a couple of people in the US.

Sadly, people will waste their time on this and in the end, they will do what they want.  These requests for comments are nothing but a dog and pony show and they corral all of us into spending time preparing comments when we could be doing other more productive things.  We know what will happen here.  The question is as Dr. George Carlo said:  “Is this assault and battery..”  The FCC and the telecoms should be brought into court on those charges and let the evidence be seen.  I don’t think that assault and battery is preempted.

Dear Ms. Mungall,

It was brought to my attention that it appears that your office is as uninformed regarding biological harm of ‘smart’ meters, as your Liberal predecessors.  Considering your new position in office, this is understandable.

I myself, on the other hand, am not new to the electro-smog issue of ‘smart’ meters, which were forced on British Columbians by the previous Clark administration, without informed consent, violating our basic democratic rights to make choices in our own home and lives.

It appears that the text you sent to a smart meter opponent, was written by BC Hydro’s lobbyists, whose aim is to misinform and deceive the public.
To simplify, I am using inserts into your text, which was issued by your office, to illustrate the errors and stunning departures from reality.

Although radio frequency fields vary depending on the technology used, the radio frequency exposure from wireless electricity meters is very low.  This statement is incorrect!  I have metered the radiation levels emitted by many smart meters, including the smart meter, which is located inside our home.  The RF meter revealed, constant powerful bursts of microwave radiation.   

The components (correct word: microwave transmitters) of a smart meter will emit radio frequency signals (microwave radiation) much lower than many commonplace household appliances, such as microwaves and radios.  Incorrect!  You seem to be unaware that home radios only receive and have NO microwave transmitters.  I have metered our own radio, as well as others, and unlike smart meters, radios emit NOTHING!  This is a gross misrepresentation of facts!

When considering risks associated with radio frequency (microwave radiation), there are three things to consider: strength, duration and distance.  This argument is not valid, considering that many homes like ours, have smart meters inside, and even banks of smart meters, located beside people’s beds, in multi dwelling housing.

Strength: BC Hydro’s smart meters communicate using a very low power signal – less than 2 microwatts/cm² when standing 20 centimetres from the meter – which is 50 percent less than the strictest standards in the world.  Wishful thinking!  I stood 20 meters away from our very own smart meter, inside our living room, and metered very high radiation levels emitted by our smart meter.  One of the world’s least protective safety guides, is Canada’s Safety Code 6. 

Duration: Smart meters transmit an average total of a minute a day.  This is a misleading statement!  In reality, smart meters emit thousands of times a day, according to our own testing using a digital RF meter, which records every microwave radiation spike on a histogram.  Most people are not aware that their home is flooded continuously, 24/7, with microwave radiation pollution. This fact was deliberately withheld by BC Hydro!

Distance: Smart meters are located outside of the home.  False!  Our own smart meter is located INSIDE our home.  At a distance of 3 feet, the power signal is 0.07 microwatts/cm² which is one ten‑thousandth of the federal health and safety standard governing exposure to radio frequency and electromagnetic fields.  Wishful thinking and utterly false!  Most smart meters I metered emitted far more microwave radiation, at even greater distances.  My office, which is 15 feet away from the ‘smart’ meter, had such high microwave radiation readings that I had to shield the wall, to be able to work in this area, as it made me feel unwell!  

We understand that some customers continue to have concerns about the cost of retaining legacy (extortion) meters.  Some customers?  There are thousands who object to smart meters!  Those concerns must be balanced with fairness to other customers. Fairness?  BC Hydro does not understand the word ‘fairness’.  BC Hydro deliberately lied and deceived, and continues to deceive British Columbians!  requires that those customers who choose not to accept what is now the standard meter in British Columbia (a smart meter), must cover the costs associated with making that choice.  Fairness would be INFORMED consent, not FORCED smart meter installations.

Your ill conceived reply to those who oppose ‘smart’ meters, whose fundamental rights were trampled on by BC Hydro, Fortis, and the Liberal government, is not a good start for the credibility of the NDP.  We supported your party, because we believed your party believes in upholding and supporting people’s democratic rights.  However, we did not expect a perpetuation of the Liberal’s appalling disregard of science, and human rights!

If anyone wishes to smoke and diminish their health, it is their foolish choice to make.  However, forcing 24/7 ‘smart’ meter radiation into people’s homes and lives, against their will, is a repugnant and immoral violation of our democratic human rights.

The eminent Professor, Dr. Martin Pall, who studied the biological effects of RF microwave radiation for many years, recently said this in a video interview: ” . . . the industry’s been trying to hoodwink everybody for decades!”
He also explained something BC Hydro will not reveal to you: “Not one of these devices, not even one, not even one, has been tested biologically for safety, before they were put out to expose an unsuspecting public!” – Prof. Dr. Martin Pall
