1) A member, who is a FortisBC electricity customer, said that she believes FortisBC is joining with Powerley to provide “smart” services. It would connect the smeter with other devices that have ZigBee chips and allow communication with cell phones, etc. Has anyone received any information about this? Sounds like the perfect tool for hackers.

Low-Level EM Effects Hiding in Plain Sight
A Reminiscence on Abe Liboff’s 90th Birthday
“Much of the controversy about the health effects of electromagnetic radiation turns on whether low-level, so-called non-thermal, interactions exist. This is nothing new. The same dispute has been going on for close to 100 years.
On the occasion of Abe Liboff’s 90th birthday, we look back on two sets of experiments he worked on while he was a fellow at the Naval Medical Research Institute in the 1980’s — as well as some more recent work from Russia and Italy. The results of both experiments were, and still are, nothing short of stunning….”
“Liboff’s work at NMRI led to two startling experimental findings. One, which was published in Science, showed that relatively weak magnetic fields interfered with DNA synthesis. The results raised questions about the safety of power lines, as well as a submarine communication antenna the Navy was testing in his home state of Michigan. (Project ELF, as it was known, went operational in 1989.)
As important as the DNA finding was, there was something else: The experiment challenged the physicists’ model of EMF interactions. Liboff had scanned a swath of magnetic field frequencies (from 15 Hz to 4 kHz) and they all triggered a similar effect. According to theory, the fields induced currents in cell tissues and these would go up and down with changes in frequency. But Liboff had seen a flat response, strongly suggesting that currents were not involved. Physics could offer no explanation for what had happened to the DNA — only that it had nothing [to] do with heating. Some kind of non-thermal effect was at work.
“If indeed chromosome replication is affected,” he wrote in Science, “This would constitute a new type of mutational force.””
3) Janis Hoffmann, a member fighting for the right of her grandson (who is sensitive) to attend school, discovered that the Victoria Public Library and schools in this area are promoting Virtual Reality (VR) for children. Please see below, in Letters, Janis’s letters and information about VR. VR involves downloading a program to a smartphone or iPhone and putting it right up to the eyes, “virtually” sending EMR right through eyes into the brain. We all know that children are most vulnerable to such emissions.
The Library, in response to Janis’s email with scientific evidence, sent a 5 page waiver outlining all sorts of health effects, including seizures, that could result from using these devices. Parents must sign this waiver to “allow” their children to experience VR. I ask, what parent, having read this waiver, would sign it? I can assume only that parents who signed this did not read it. Schools are using VR and I wonder if any are informing parents of the dangers.

4) A radio interview with Mary Beth Brangan about 5G microcells and EMR in general was done today on a Berkeley, California radio station. It can be heard again. Mary Beth is a long-time fighter against electrosmog and for our right to not be exposed to RF. She describes the threats to public health and to our civil rights that are posed by the installations of transmitters on poles outside our homes without telling us or getting our permission.
Mary Beth Brangan, director of the Ecological Options Network, discusses 5G (the fifth generation of wireless technology) and California Senate Bill 649 limiting local control over the next generation of wireless technology and its implications for human and environmental health–and democracy.
It is 60 minutes long and I have not had the chance to listen to it yet.

Subject: Re: Smart Meters
Dear Ms. Mungall:
Thanks for taking the time to respond to my concerns about Smart Meters and the Legacy program. I was somewhat surprised at the comments you made in your response. They seemed as if they were taken from the BC Hydro website and do not reflect the wealth of scientific findings that contradict BC Hydro’s pseudo-facts. It’s surprising because I believed that the NDP would take a more policy-based-on-the-latest-science approach.
For example, there is no actual evidence from BC Hydro that maintaining the original meters is more costly; the risk of harm from radio frequency exposure is a controversial topic and BC Hydro’s view is just one that is seldom supported by current scientific papers; the BC Hydro information about strength, duration and distance does not align with scientific papers.
Most importantly, the autocratic method that was used to implement the smart meter program by Liberals is in complete contradiction to the consultation and review methods typically espoused by the NDP. I would have thought that the NDP would be a strong advocate of people who wish to protect the health of their families would not impose additional fees of them to do so.

Parents, Teachers and Students:
Virtual Reality Headsets have never been tested for safety for children and yet, our schools and libraries are purchasing and promoting this product. To operate these VR Headsets it requires a smartphone, emitting microwave radiation, to be inserted directly in front of a child’s eyes.
School Districts have not informed parents, teachers or students of the Safety Manuals and Disclaimers mandated by the federal government warning of the permanent health risks from the prolonged use. Parents have not given their informed consent for their children to use this untested and unregulated technology in our classrooms.
Phonegate: French Government Data Indicates Cell Phones Expose Consumers To Radiation Levels Higher Than Manufacturers Claim
The response from the Vancouver Island Regional Libraries stated the parents would have to sign a detailed Virtual Reality Rules, Terms and Conditions and Waiver. Virtual Reality Programs have become popular because of the commercials aimed at our children, as the next “must have” product to purchase. Parents will feel pressured to sign this waiver, with their children begging to use the Virtual Reality Program and believe that our government would never allow this technology, with the potential of serious injuries, to hit the store shelves if unsafe. Parents, beware, it is now up to the public to prove Virtual Reality Headsets using smartphones, is unsafe and should never be part of the educational curriculum until scientific peer review studies have proven Microwave Radiation Exposure is safe for children.
Below is a link to the EMF-Portal, an extensive literature database with an inventory of over 25,000 publications and over 5,000 summaries of individual peer reviewed scientific studies on the health effects of electromagnetic fields.
The specific age groups suggested for the different products are for age appropriate content, NOT safety.
- Oculus Rift: no one under the age of 13 may use the Oculus Rift.
- Merge: no one under the age of 10 may use the Merge VR. If under 13 years old, the consent of a parent or guardian is required.
- View Master VR: no one under the age of 7 years old may use the View Master VR. If between the ages 7 and 13 years old, the consent of a parent or guardian is required.

Virtual Reality Rules, Terms and Conditions and Waiver
Mainstream media is owned and operated by the wireless industry and they will not cover stories that will affect the potential sale of their products. Please contact your school principal and school board and let them know this technology has never been tested for safety on our children and we don’t want wireless Virtual Reality Headsets in our schools.
