2016-03-16 USA admits Iranian hacking attack on infrastructure

1) An excellent research tool provided by Aachen University in Germany.

“The internet information platform EMF-Portal of the RWTH Aachen University summarizes systematically scientific research data on the effects of electromagnetic fields (EMF). All information is made available in both English and German. The core of the EMF-Portal is an extensive literature database with an inventory of 22,644 publications and 5,512 summaries of individual scientific studies on the effects of electromagnetic fields.”

2) Norm Ryder is still outside the BC Legislature on a hunger and thirst strike and is doing well. He told me that some MLAs and others have come to speak with him. Several have shared their concerns about cell phones and the Wi-Fi in their offices. Here is some information he wishes to add to his initial letter below in Letters.

3) I had asked for you to consider sending in letters of comment regarding BC Hydro’s attempt to have a complete revision of the Electric Tariff under the Rate Restructuring Application (see update March 11). Here is info about how to do it.

4) Admission in a political publication, “The Hill”, that there has been an attack on US infrastructure by foreign hackers. This could have been a test – next time could be bigger!! What is BC Hydro or our government doing to protect our infrastructure? Nothing that we know of.

“Last week, Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) confirmed that, two years ago, the Bowman Avenue Dam in Rye Brook, New York was accessed remotely by Iranian hackers – a move characterized as “shot across our bow” and a clear indication of the tremendous risk that cyber attackers pose.

While an attack on a dam in Westchester is frightening, it is only symptomatic of the weaknesses in our critical infrastructure. A recent U.S.-led report produced by the Industrial Control Systems Cyber Emergency Response Team (ICS-CERT) found that a “synchronized and coordinated” cyberattack shut down a large section of the Ukrainian power grid in December 2015, a situation which, if replicated in the U.S., could cost anywhere between $243 billion and $1 trillion dollars.

5) Someone believes that BC Hydro has been remotely manipulating her smeter. I have never heard of this before but her diligence in tracking everything sure does seem to show something fishy is happening. I will check with other groups to see if anyone else has found anything like this, and we’re checking on her calculations of power usage.

Letters:

From Norm Ryder:

In addition to the Names cited yesterday for willfully contributing to not following the due process with respect to my WorkSafe claim:

worksafe_bc_logo

I also note David Krantz and Kate Denby at WorkSafe, David Newell the senior Vice Chair at WCAT (he even wrote to me they change the process depending on the circumstances). Trevor Hughes the responsible Deputy Minister refuses to do his job and look at the proof I have that all the above mentioned have denied due process and the process has not been used to consider my claim.

I also will cite the Chief Medical Health Officer in BC Dr. Perry Kendall for not stepping up and informing the people of BC that microwave radiation can be harmful and many people during the day can be exposed to radiation levels exceeding Safety Code. Exceeding Safety Code 6 is particularly serious as the levels allowed are well into the category of causing biological harm.

The protest will be quiet and with no signs etc. to explain the reason for the protest symbolic of the way WorkSafe/WCAT bully injured workers into silence as they drop a claim in shear frustration dealing with the bully’s kangaroo court.

Re. Microsoft programs from a member:

Your readers may be interested in free software to turn off Microsoft’s hidden telemetry (surveillance spyware) activities now incorporated into Windows 10, and being backported to MS Windows versions 7, 8 and 8.1.

Here is the link to one such program which works on ALL versions except Vista and XP:

https://www.safer-networking.org/2015/spybot-anti-beacon-tutorial/

Another program is GWX control panel, not as all encompassing as Spybot Anti-Beacon but still able to remove the annoying “Get Windows 10” nagware messages and block any automatic upgrade from pre 10 MS Windows versions:

For those computer users fed up with Microsoft’s invasive tactics, just install any popular Linux distribution (all free and open source) and discover real freedom. No more need for expensive anti-virus and other such protection. Here is a link to one of the best:

Many other Linux distributions exist. Contrary to what Microsoft do not want you to know, most internet servers and industrial control systems run under Linux.
