- In Ontario, Hydro One customers are protesting ever increasing bills which are forcing many to choose having power or food. The same is happening in BC and it will get worse with the huge, irresponsible, unnecessary projects with no oversight, such as the smeter program and Site c.

There are groups protesting $meters in just about every country, state and province. We may have been one of the first groups to begin educating the public about the many problems associated with these microwave devices, but we sure aren’t alone now.

- In Calif. 3rd parties are trying to get their hands on data collected by the utility companies via the $$mart grid, even offering data swap, e.g. Solar City, a company that sells and installs solar panels would give info to the utilities about its customers.
“In exchange, SolarCity can use its broadband-connected monitoring systems to bring in real-time data from its customers’ sites, at latencies that utilities would be hard-pressed to match with their smart meter networks, he said.
In fact, “we’ve had a standing offer for about a year with all the utilities in California and across the country — we’ll data-swap. We’ll give you the detailed performance data you don’t have on solar assets and customer assets, if you provide us this loading data and grid information,” he said. “To date, every utility has said no to us. That’s why we’re really excited about the DRP — it’s forcing the utilities’ hands and allowing us to uphold our side of the bargain.””
Watch for incentives offered to entice customers into allowing data to be “shared”, aka ‘sold’. Our data is very valuable and third parties could pay Hydro and Fortis a lot of $$$ for it.

ComEd is among the first utilities to roll-out Green Button Connect My Data, which allows customers to authorize third-party service providers to receive direct access to their energy usage analytics via the Green Button functionality.”
- People in Maine are attempting to have the Public Utilities Commission’s decision that smart meters are safe vacated based upon scientific evidence and statements such as the UN petition recently signed by more than 200 researchers. Sure the BCUC should hear appeals that its decision too was based on faulty information provided by Exponent, a company specializing in misinformation, twisted science to defend products like asbestos, agent orange and pesticides. No one at Fortis ever explained why, if this RF radiation is so safe, that they had to pay hired guns to kill the scientific evidence.
- In New York people protesting being forced to lose their analog meters and to pay $6 if they opt out of a semi-$meter (one that communicates only one way).
