3) The BC Government Controls the BCUC
A reminder from a member about how the govt controls BCUC. This government by directive became possible by stipulations that have been put into just about every law and regulation that says that the govt can, by order in council, overrule (ignore) any part of the law or regulation whenever it wants to. No justification is needed, No debate in the legislature is required. To me this smacks of dictatorship, not democracy:

Energy minister says utilities commission can’t reject smart meter opt-out fees
“B.C.’s independent power regulator won’t be allowed to reject smart meter opt-out fees, nor can it go back and investigate the validity of the controversial program, according to a special order from the province’s energy minister.
Bill Bennett issued the directive to the B.C. Utilities Commission in advance of B.C. Hydro’s application for smart meter fees, expected in the next few weeks.
The order limits the commission to focusing entirely on whether the fees, up to $35 a month, are fair. The commission retains its ability to lower the fees if it sees fit, but not eliminate them entirely or make any changes to how Hydro runs the smart meter program.
“We, frankly, did not want the BCUC to be tempted to go back and revisit that decision from several years ago, so we circumscribed what we wanted them to do, which is focus on the decision today,” Bennett said in an interview with the Times Colonist.”.. (said Bennett)

There are MANY in Cowichan Valley, as well as the “Islands”, up north areas, Kootenays, Okanagan. and many other parts of the country. The idea is just to feel some strength in our numbers, gather support and solidarity, some sharing of ideas, and validation that sticking to our reasons for not wanting this in our homes is worthwhile! We are not looking at inviting media, politicians or anything of that nature – it is JUST FOR OURSELVES.
We want to do this so people do not feel the burden of being alone in this, as well as to consider some potential forward thinking possibilities for action that anyone of us may have.
If you have some ideas/ input/ about anything, bring it on……… whoever can come to :

5) Is Sechelt going to be a WIFI Hot Spot?
Non-smeter but important. Council meeting in Sechelt Sept. 3 to discuss wifi in downtown. The telecoms have presented the “free wifi” as an incentive for people to remain a little longer in Sechelt! How silly is this? I suggest selling Sechelt as a spot without EMR and RF is really a selling point, one of the few places where those who wish to escape the onslaught of cell and wifi transmitters can .

In discussion of this item, it was noted that:
- Dave Jephcott envisioned July 1st as the timeline to launch, however BC Day August 1st is looking more realistic.
- Statistics show that people stay longer in Wi-Fi zones. Retail stores will stayopen longer, it will attract new business, and Dave feels this infrastructure andfoundation will help the economy.
- Sechelt will be the smallest community in Canada to have this project launched.

Your headline is a very telling one! I mean, why mention smart meters in the same breath with fires unless they are understood to be a likely source – if – as Hydro maintains, they are as ‘safe as houses’, that is?
For instance, you wouldn’t say, “Toilet bowl blameless in Langford fire”, would you, not even if the supposedly guilty cigarette had been absent-mindedly tossed in there by someone in a meditative state.

As the Opposition Spokesperson for Advanced Education and the mother of four grown children, you have two compelling reasons why you absolutely must educate yourself and realize that national governments and academe in European countries (47 countries, 800-million people) are vastly more aware of and greatly concerned about the proliferation of Wi-Fi routers, cell phones, cell towers, cordless phones, laptop and tablet computers, Smart Meters, etc in their schools and places of learning – not to mention their kindergartens, hospitals, libraries, nursing homes, etc. – than are we here in corrupt Canada and the USA (see below).
Note: In 2003, the UK Education Secretary banned cell phones from all schools in England and Wales! That’s 11 years ago!

Many of the world’s pre-eminent non-industry scientists are now warning the entire world about: “The Disaster of the 21st Century – microwave radiation.” Yet in Canada’s public school system every level of academe is proudly and ignorantly awash in ever-increasing wireless microwave emitting devices, all of which emit chronic low-level pulsed non-thermal microwave radiation 24/7/365 in perpetuity! (Private schools have more autonomy and can ban Wi-Fi if they wish.) Think of it: students in Canada’s public school system are exposed to dangerous levels of this pulsed non-thermal radiation for six hours a day, five days a week for up to 12 years! Yet our corrupt government/industrial complex – and their agent in BC, our Provincial Health Officer, steadfastly insist that all of these devices are safe. Two quick facts: 1) not one of these devices has ever been independently tested by reputable non-industry-aligned scientists and found to be safe – in terms of the radiation they emit!; 2) European countries began pulling Wi-Fi out of schools back in 2006, yet here in Canada we’re pushing it in – whether parents or schoolboards like it or not!

The fearful thing about microwave radiation is that none of us can see it, smell it, taste it, feel it or hear it, yet it is everywhere today! And it keeps getting thicker and thicker, much as smoke does in a room as more and more people who are smoking enter the room.
Kathy, I’m contacting you here purely as a “messenger.” British Columbians need you to do the responsible, democratic thing and help bring about an end to this, what amounts to, crime against humanity! Thank you for your time.
