1) Meeting with MLA Jane Shin Sept 7
One of our members has scheduled an appointment with MLA Jane Shin, for Burnaby/Lougheed for Tuesday, Sept. 9, 10:30am to discuss the fire issue. He would like to have 3-4 others join him, to bring strong arguments to her for taking on this issue. If you live in that area and would like to join him, please email me at:
director@stopsmartmetersbc.ca with “Shin” on the subject line and I will connect you.
2) Ontario MP calling for Federal investigation of Hydro One
Ontario MP calling for investigation of the Hydro One $$meter program by Industry Canada, primarily due to billing problems. OK, time for our MPs to get educated about our problems – billing errors, fires, lack of safety testing, etc. Please start copying your MP on your letters, and start writing or meeting with them directly.

3) Solar Panels – reduce your BC Hydro bill
Info. below, in the Letters, re. an opportunity to buy solar panels. I am just passing the info. on – I have no other information.
4) Will BC Hydro shut off your Air Con when the temp outside is really hot?
A major “benefit” for utilities of the $meter program is control of use of electricity. We will lose control over our use of our appliances.
“Allow the utilities to remotely control customers’ appliances during periods of heavy electrical demand as part of a “demand response” strategy.”

Subject: problem with local papers
Hello
I am writing to both of you gentlemen as I am not sure which of you is in charge of the Fraser Valley papers. I am a member of the Coalition to Stop Smart Meters and as such I have sent letters to the Agassiz Harrison Observer and they have not been published. On August 26 I sent in a press release from the Coalition asking that it be printed in the paper. I also sent the same message to the publisher at the Progress. I have heard nothing back from them. I am including a copy of that message and the attachments that had been sent.
“This statement (the first attachment) has been issued by the Coalition to Stop “Smart” Meters about how the government won’t admit that fires have happened in BC due to smart meters. I am asking that you print this in the paper. The second attachment is a summary of the Fire Report and the third is the actual report itself. I urge you to read these documents because they are full of information that the public needs to know about.
I would also like to write a series of articles about EMF and low level radiation and the effects it has on the human body. This includes smart meters, microwaves, cell phones and cell phone towers etc. Would you print these articles if I present them to you?
Please get back to me on this.”
BC Hydro released a media response after the Truth About Fires was released and I noticed that that was not published in your papers either. The Coalition released a media response to that. I am including that as well. (BC Hydro…..uted)
I am also including a press release dated July 30 that your papers also ignored. (Bill Bennett fires)
Now there has been another fire on the island and from the pictures, one could see that it was the smart meter but today the fire department has given it a different origin and this is typical now a days.
I would like to know why your papers are ignoring this situation. It is a situation that people have the right to know about so that they can take steps to protect their property and their lives.
If you are interested in more info on this, get on email list of Peter Nix:
The meeting was VERY informative – looks like the time has come. If you are not ready yet, perhaps it might be a consideration as an investment?

Subject: Solar bulk buy
To: Don Skerik <donskerik@vecoop.ca>
Hi this note is regarding the Cowichan bulk program.
Viridian Energy Co-operative has been offered 700 solar panels at a great price but we need to buy all 700. We can’t commit to this offer unless we get some firm commitments from people who have expressed an interest in the program.
These are Canadian Solar products, they are made in China to Canadian Solar specs. Canadian Solar carries the warranty so we don’t have to deal with China over warranties.
This offer is only available until Friday Sept. 5 after that the supplier will make the equipment available to other distributors and contractors.
Here are some options:
1) who can verbally commit to a discounted bulk purchase this week – price is 72 cents per watt . We would need to full payment up front. Delivery would be approx 2 weeks. Install would happen this Fall.
2) who can verbally commit to a bulk buy within 6 months – price is 79 cents per watt (this increase covers our financing and storage). This would require a $1,000 deposit.
3) who can offer to help finance this one time discounted purchase of 700 panels – we are thinking of 5% interest over 6 months for your loan.
NORMAL 25 year WARRANTY with Canadian Solar – panels made in China. Each panel is 235 watts
PLEASE RESPOND WITH YOUR CHOICE ABOVE AND HOW MANY PANELS YOU WANT. We MUST HAVE IDEA OF HOW MANY ORDERS ARE OUT THERE BEFORE WE RISK THIS PURCHASE.
I know this is short notice and you may need some time to think about it. We are trying to arrange a meeting for next week to go over details.
Sorry if you have already received this from Peter.
