2022-06-14 Connecting “smart” home to the internet

1) The “smart” home, which I believe will be driven by the telecoms’ expansion of 5G, sounds like a nightmare of technology that will be both emitting huge amounts of EMF and exposing every aspect of our lives to cyber-invasion.

What’s the Matter? We Explain the New Smart Home Standard  The open source standard called Matter makes sure that your devices play nicely. Here’s how it could change how you shop for and use them

“THE IDEAL SMART home seamlessly anticipates your needs and instantly responds to commands. You shouldn’t have to open a specific app for each appliance or remember the precise voice command and voice assistant combination that starts the latest episode of your favorite podcast on the nearest speaker. Competing smart home standards make operating your devices needlessly complicated. It’s just not very … well, smart…

Where before you had a single hub to secure, Matter devices will mostly connect directly to the internet. That makes them potentially more susceptible to hackers and malware.

Tech giants try to straddle standards by offering their voice assistants as a controlling layer on top, but Alexa can’t talk to Google Assistant or Siri or control Google or Apple devices, and vice versa. And so far, no single ecosystem has created all the best devices. But that may be changing. Formerly called Project CHIP (Connected Home over IP), the open source interoperability standard known as Matter will finally launch later this year. Some of the biggest tech names have signed on, like Amazon, Apple, and Google, which means that seamless integration may finally be within reach.”

Controlling My Family’s Smart Home Is Driving Us Mad

“When things are running perfectly, you can catch a glimpse of comfort and convenience. But when issues crop up—which they frequently do—problem-solving falls on us. If you’ve ever lost a morning trying to set up a security camera; sacrificed an afternoon connecting your light panels to your new Wi-Fi mesh system; or torn your hair out over a robot vacuum that worked perfectly yesterday, but now turns uselessly in circles, then you know my pain.”

2) A special meeting which presents the opportunity to meet others who are concerned with wireless radiation and are working for a safer environment. It does not appear that registration is required.

3) Newer phones have multiple antennae that are always emitting RF unless they are disabled. The level of RF from this cell phone is literally off the chart!! This shows how to disable the various antennae to reduce the levels (if you must have a cell phone).
