1) Please see below in Letters info about the cell tower at Qualicum Beach (QB). There will be rallies starting on May 3 @ 10 am and continuing for days. Please support these cell tower warriors any way you can. Please consider sending this info to people you know who live in the area.
This information was gathered by someone today in QB by speaking with men at the proposed cell tower site. Remember, ISED and Telus did not follow policy established for public notification for new cell towers. It is vital that this not be allowed. Plus, all communities should have Antenna Siting Policies in place to help prevent this from ever happening again.

“We talked with 2 of the men. They are subcontracted by Telus and install cell towers all over the place and he said this is the way things are going and won’t be stopped (something to that effect). They said it is indeed to be a 5G tower and that there are already 5G microtowers all over Qualicum, on higher buildings and the water tower had many on it. I daresay that the same applies to Nanaimo and, likely, Duncan. He said that the 5G spectrum being used now has been lowered to close to am radio frequency, because the other higher frequency wasn’t working because it can’t go through buildings.”
2) In 2010, when BC Hydro was starting to replace analog meters with smeters, there were a few communities in BC that were exempt because they had special arrangements with BC Hydro regarding the provision of electricity. New Westminster was one and analog meters have continued to be used but, apparently, that is about to change. Opting out, having the transmitters disabled, will be allowed for a price, yet to be determined. Info under FAQ:

3) In the USA, it appears that the efficient and safer old-fashioned incandescent light bulb will be banned and, perhaps, the unhealthy CFL and LED bulbs will be promoted as the only choice. CFL light bulbs contain mercury which is a hazardous material, making disposal difficult and environmentally harmful, polluting groundwater, oceans, etc. They also emit EMF. LED bulbs have been shown harmful to eyes. More efficient incandescent bulbs have been developed (https://tlo.mit.edu/technologies/high-efficiency-incandescent-lighting); hopefully, this new policy will include these.
