The timing seems more than coincidental to me. Could Telus be hoping to get their towers in place before the fiber optic cable comes and makes wireless unnecessary? There needs to be some presentations to the residents on these islands and other coastal areas to give them reason to refuse Telus. Please alert anyone you know who lives in any of these places.

“TELUS is looking at five potential communication tower sites in the Discovery Islands.
Three of these are on Cortes Island, where they already have land rights on two sites. TELUS owns property in Mansons Landing and has reached an agreement with a property owner in Squirrel Cove. They are also looking for a Whaletown resident who is willing to host a tower on their land.
TELUS is looking for properties in Heriot Bay and Drew Harbour on Quadra Island, but has not yet identified any candidates.”

2) A member alerted me to the real possibility of Covid vaccine certifications being put on smartphones so that people, when travelling, etc., can prove they have been vaccinated. This is concerning for many reasons and the member described them well:
“I just learned this morning that COVID Vaccine Passports will not be physical documents but will be smart phone generated.
If they are mandated, folks will need to allow to have their smart phones scanned by restaurants, transportation facilities, motels, sports facilities, gyms, dance studios, cinemas, theaters and who know what else to be allowed access. This info will give the company controlling the passport complete access to an individual’s whereabouts as well as their health records. It will clearly be a huge money grab for both Big Pharma and Big Tech. Very disturbing on a privacy level, as well as how it will exclude anyone who is EHS and cannot use or cannot afford or chooses to not use a smart phone, as well as anyone who cannot or chooses to not get a vaccine from participating in society….”
This article describes what is in the planning process. The member’s concerns are justified. For those of us without smartphones, they are considering some “smart” card that would allow access to medical records, etc.

For travel, the app lists health pass requirements at the points of departure and arrival based on your itinerary….

The public has a fundamental right to receive the latest science information, regarding biologically active radiation, emitted by cell towers, which penetrates into homes with alarming ease, without homeowners consent.
The latest, government funded research, by the US National Toxicology Program, NTP, commissioned by the FDA, Health Canada’s US equivalent, revealed highly disturbing news to the world , after 10 years of intensive research on non-ionizing radiation, as emitted by cell towers, 24/7.
Their alarming news of telecommunication toxicity, was followed by the world renown Italian, Ramazzini Institute Study, on cell tower base stations, also over 10 years.
– Both peer reviewed studies, costs of 30 million dollars, each!
– Both studies revealed disturbing news of bio-toxicity, to man, animals, insects, and environment.
– Both studies, met the Hill Criteria of causation (cancer), on all counts.
Telus lobbyist , Brian Gregg, was made aware of these studies, by this writer, through printed science literature, which included vast amounts of international research on the dangers of cell tower radiation.
It is beyond comprehension, that Mr. Gregg, keeps handing out decades old, and scientifically obsolete research, as he has done in Gold River and Qualicum Beach.
The comments by Langford’s staff; that current studies in Canada and other countries indicate that there is no scientific evidence of harm, is simply WRONG, and highly misleading!
As EMF Consultant, who communicates with EMF scientist and doctors around the world, I am appalled at the lack of scientific understanding by councils and government officials.

Thousands of scientists and doctors report, that children and the frail, are at greatest risk from chronic cell tower radiation exposure, inside their homes.

The article in the Goldstream Gazette of Jan. 20, 2021 quoted Langford City staff apparently without the reporter, Katherine Engquist, having done any individual investigation to confirm the statement’s accuracy or veracity.
“In the report, staff note “current biomedical studies in Canada and in other countries indicate that there is no scientific or medical evidence that a person will experience adverse health effects from exposure to radio frequency fields, provided that the installation abides by Safety Code 6.””
This statement is not true which is surprising since newsletters with information about this topic are sent to Council and staff regularly. The public deserves to know that for many years scientists and experts from around the world have been warning that people who live or spend significant time within 500 meters of a cell tower suffer higher levels of serious health problems than is expected based on statistics.
Moreover, microwave radiation which is emitted from all wireless devices such as cell phones and Wi-Fi were classified in 2011 by the International Agency for Research on Cancer as a 2B (possible) carcinogen, the same classification as DDT and lead. Since 2011, there have been several major studies which are causing independent scientists to call for a higher classification of 1, or true carcinogen. While cancer is a major concern associated with wireless devices, other serious health effects have been found in thousands of studies. These include neurological effects such as autism and Alzheimer’s, DNA damage, and reduced and impaired fertility, just to name a few. People would be well advised to do their own research of studies done by true, non-industry affiliated experts. Dr. Anthony Miller, Canadian physician, epidemiologist, professor of Public Health at University of Toronto, former Director of Epidemiology at the National Cancer Institute of Canada (and so much more) states that Health Canada has failed to consider independent scientific evidence and that Safety Code 6 is deeply flawed.

One major concern for siting this tower in this location is that a school is very close by. Studies have shown that children and teens, whose bodies are still developing, are much more vulnerable to microwave radiation. Innovation, Science, Economic Development (ISED) has the mandate to promote industry and as such has a policy that allows more transmitters to be installed on an existing tower without further notification or approval. It is virtually inevitable that soon many transmitters, including ones for the new 5G grid, will be on this tower, increasing the radiation level in the surrounding areas dramatically, putting those working, attending school or living nearby at even greater risk.
It is time for City Councils to acknowledge the scientific evidence and to work to ensure that cell towers are sited away from places where people spend significant time. It is also time for industry’s assurances of safety to be questioned and investigated before any wireless device is used or installed. Profit should not come at the expense of future generations’ health.
