2020-09-07 Rogers’ partner Ericsson’s microcells could be in manholes

1) I don’t understand how this works, but Ericsson says it can have 5G transmitters just about anywhere, even in manholes where fiber optic cable is often available. This allows installation of 5G microcells without our knowing about it, hiding them in plain site. Are streets public right of ways over which the province or the city would have jurisdiction? As I get more info, I will share.

Capacity in dense urban areas with minimal visual impact — New Vault Radio 2268

“The new Vault Radio 2268, part of the Ericsson Radio System, enables operators and cities to place radios in existing underground vaults, with fiber and power infrastructure connected to antenna on ground level. This allows for fast permit process and deployment, while ensuring no visual impact in street environment.

Important to note: Rogers, which is busy installing 5G across BC and Canada, is partnering with Ericsson.

Ericsson: Our network partner of choice

“Since 1985, we’ve partnered with Ericsson and invested billions in our wireless networks to deliver a faster, more reliable experience than ever before. Today we continue to work together to boost and densify our fibre-powered network with 5G-ready technology.”

2) An important legal decision in Massachusetts re use of a third party to install 5G infrastructure on public property, e.g. right-of-ways. Lots of info to consider in our attempts to educate the local government — including documents at the end.

5G “Small Cell” Proliferation Takes a Hit in Cambridge MA

“In an important win for those who are concerned about 5G and small cell wireless proliferation, on August 26, 2020 the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts dismissed a lawsuit by “neutral host” provider ExteNet Systems, Inc. against the City of Cambridge, MA.

The case could have far-reaching impacts when “neutral host providers” like American Tower, Crown Castle and ExteNet try to secure approval to occupy municipal rights-of-way. Neutral host providers build wireless infrastructure and then lease space to the wireless companies (like AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon) that provide the wireless service.”

Swindon street lights ‘brighter than Sun’ residents complain

“However it said the lights cannot be dimmed as soon as they are installed because they need “special software”.

People living near the newly installed lights have voiced their frustration.

Helena Bowie said they were so bright outside her house in Penhill it was affecting her sleep and upsetting her husband who is autistic and has light sensitivity.”
