2019-01-02 Light (Li-Fi) could replace Wi-Fi

1)  McLean’s is alerting Canadians to the potential for cybersecurity issues resulting from the IoT and, especially, 5G technology as Huawei’s equipment is used and this Chinese company partners with Telus to build the infrastructure.

What’s the worst China could do with access to Canada’s 5G network?

 2)  Internet via light or Li-Fi was developed a few years ago and has been used in pilot projects in many places. Now the IEEE is working to set a standard, as it did with EMR. IEEE is not concerned about safety, only efficiency.  Some of the experts who have studied the health effects from EMR are warning that Li-Fi should be studied carefully to make sure it’s safe before it is released widely. We can’t afford to keep making mistakes. One concern is the blue light that can affect melatonin, eyes, etc. But if this technology could be determined to be safe, it could easily replace much of the Wi-Fi to which we are exposed.

IEEE Task Force Works on Standard for Light Communications

““Li-Fi is another tool in a set that already happens to be pretty good. It will provide that complementary capacity that Wi-Fi and other wireless communications need to create a fully connected digital society.”

There are some differences between what can be done with Li-Fi and what can be done with the lower part of the radio spectrum, he says.

“It is always a matter of using the right technology to solve the right problem,” he says, “and Li-Fi can meaningfully help to deliver ubiquitous indoor coverage for the mass market, bringing data wherever there is light. Indeed, by some accounts Li-Fi may broaden the frequency range by 1,000 times.””

Pilot projects have confirmed that Li-Fi is faster and more secure than Wi-Fi.

Li-Fi Has Just Been Tested in The Real World, And It’s 100 Times Faster Than Wi-Fi

“Li-Fi was invented by Harald Haas from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland back in 2011, when he demonstrated for the first time that by flickering the light from a single LED, he could transmit far more data than a cellular tower. Think back to that lab-based record of 224 gigabits per second – that’s 18 movies of 1.5 GB each being downloaded every single second.

3)  Technology just gets crazier and more dangerous – just because it can. Plans are in the works to use radar in personal devices like phones. This has been approved in the US with only concerns about interference being raised. Nothing about health !!

Google’s futuristic radar-based hand sensors get US approval, despite interference concerns

Google has been granted permission to roll out wearable hand motion sensors that allow users to swipe, scroll and click their devices through thin air. Concern remains that the devices could interfere with other electronics.

The sensor technology, named Project Soli, has been in development since 2015. Worn on a user’s wrist, it allows the user to scroll, swipe, click and control their devices with simple hand gestures in the air. Users can click a virtual button between their thumb and index finger, or turn a virtual dial by rubbing these fingers together…

A radar beam tracks the movement of the user’s hand, enabling precise control – just like the futuristic computer interface used by Tom Cruise in ‘Minority Report’. Google also claims that the technology will be integrated into phones, personal computers, and vehicles.”

Subject: How safe are our children in school where microwave radiation exposure is mandatory?

Dear Willow Reichelt,

This issue is not a passion but a real concern regarding the latest scientific proof of harm to our children from the microwave radiation emitting from wireless technology in our classrooms.  The School Boards have wilfully dismissed credible health information presented to them from qualified experts, nationally and internationally, which emphasizes children’s heightened vulnerabilities and the need for “precautionary” measures to reduce exposure and risk from the harmful effects now.

The game changer is “Clear Evidence” of Cancer a Scientific Fact.     https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0013935118300355

Trustees have an obligation to do their due diligence by researching the latest peer reviewed studies or requesting a current safety letter from our Provincial Health Officer in order to make a complete assessment regarding the safety of our children while they are in your care. Trustees have a “duty” to provide our children with a safe learning environment.

Parents, teachers and students are frustrated because we have contacted the Provincial Health Officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry, Ministry of Health, Mr. Adrian Dix, Ministry of Education, Mr. Rob Fleming, Premier, Mr. John Horgan, requesting an official response to the findings of the US National Toxicology Program Expert Panel who concluded that there is “Clear Evidence of Carcinogenic Activity” and the association of cancer in the heart and brain and cell phone radiation only to be ignored. This information warrants the solicitation of a current letter, re Wi-Fi safety from Dr. Bonnie Henry to ensure the latest peer reviewed studies and recommendations are being applied to make a sound decision regarding our children’s health and well being.

All our letters, emails and requests for an appointment to discuss this important health issue have fallen on deaf ears.

The most current letter on file is dated July 2011, from our School Health Officer, Dr. Stanwick, who was unable to provide us with any peer-reviewed studies stating the safety of microwave radiation exposure.  Dr. Stanwick instead has shifted “the responsibility for professional oversight” to the Provincial Health Officer.  Dr. Stanwick, appears to have no educational background on the biological health effects of RF radiation exposure, yet has endorsed the installation of a known 2b carcinogen listed next to lead, DDT, methyl mercury, chloroform, and car exhaust as an acceptable risk in our schools.  It’s 2019 and is Cancer an acceptable risk too?

The BC Government has failed to do their due diligence and take immediate action to mitigate the risk by informing the School Boards throughout the province of the established health risks associated with long term exposure to microwave radiation by recommending the use of hard wired connections to access the Internet in our schools. For as little as a one time cost of $500 US dollars every classroom would be provided with 40 Ethernet ports plus adapters for their wireless devices, costing about $20 per child, a small price to pay compared to brain surgery, chemotherapy, radiation treatments etc.   http://octowired.com/

Health is a Provincial responsibility and we are calling on the School Boards to request a current letter from our Provincial Health Officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry regarding the safety of wireless technology in our schools.

Respectfully,

Janis Hoffmann

Hi Janis,

I understand that you are very passionate about this issue. I will be honest with you and tell you that I am not concerned about the risks of WiFi and cell phones. It is not something I will be addressing as a school trustee.
