1)    Despite warning several years ago about the addictive effect and harm done by excessive screen time due to “technological teaching”, the schools have continued to increase the focus on screen teaching because of industry pressure. Children are experiencing increased learning and behavioral difficulties not seen in countries, like Finland, where teachers do the teaching, books are used, and tablets are excluded.

Revisiting Time Magazine’s 2016 “Screens in Schools Are a $60B Hoax” by Dr. Nicholas Kardaras. It’s Only Become Worse.

“ ADHD rates have indeed exploded by 50 percent over the past 10 years with the CDC indicating that rates continue to rise by five percent per year. Yet many researchers and neuroscientists believe that this ADHD epidemic is a direct result of children being hyper-stimulated. Using hyper-stimulating digital content to “engage” otherwise distracted students exacerbates the problem that it endeavors to solve. It creates a vicious and addictive ADHD cycle: The more a child is stimulated, the more that child needs to keep getting stimulated in order to hold their attention.

Dr. Kardaras includes more examples of what he describes as a “dubious ed-tech cash-grab.”  Many were duped.  Teachers were laid off.  Tech companies, inventors, and investors profited handsomely.”

2)    Here is an excellent article to share with School Boards, principals, teachers and parents about Wi-Fi in schools and how to replace it safely. A presentation by Dr. Sarah Starkey.  Summer is the time to reach parents and teachers alike – when outside the school where the communication about Wi-Fi is very controlled.  If there is a mailing list, this would be an excellent one to share.

3)    In the UK, many people are refusing to use smeters because of cybersecurity and privacy concerns. The UK utilities report that their smeters are not connected to the internet and are, therefore, more secure. In BC, our smeters are connected to the internet and are promoted for this feature. Once the ZigBee chip is activated, all “smart” devices in the home (and all new appliances and electronics will be “smart”) will be reporting data to the smeter’s ZigBee, thereby connecting many things in your home to the internet without your knowledge or approval.

People aren’t using smart meters for one main reason

“Despite the government’s ongoing smart meter roll-out, nearly 50 per cent of people are concerned about the security risks of the devices…

Internet-connected devices and good cybersecurity

There are now over 6 billion smart devices in the world. These devices that talk to each other are known as the Internet of Things or IoT.

According to analysis by the security company Kaspersky Labs, many of these devices have weak security settings, which are easy for hackers to bypass.

This means security concerns about smart meters are not unfounded.”

4)    I suspect the UK utilities may not be telling their customers the complete truth regarding smeters not being connected to the internet, since that really is one of the key justifications for these things – gathering and sharing our data.  The smeters are also the “key entry” point for hackers who want to get into the power grids.

Smart Devices Are Critical Entry Point to IoT Ecosystem

“As smart functionality makes its way into homes and businesses, two devices are gaining a foothold into broader ecosystems to maximize growth and revenue opportunities: smart speakers and smart meters. No longer simply intelligent appliances in the home, these devices are becoming key entry points into the massive Internet of Things (IoT) value chain…

IHS Markit provides timely insight and analysis for more than 30 connectivity technologies in 34 application segments used for the IoT. In two newly published reports, IHS Markit provides a comprehensive overview of the smart speaker and the smart meter, offering a wide-ranging look into these pivotal devices and what lies ahead.”

Subject: Duty to protect the children – correction

Dear Dr. Henry

As you are the Provincial Health Officer, I am including you in this email, as it is highly relevant to the health of children, including teachers and staff.

The scientific fact that the human body is bio-electric seems to escape politicians and unfortunately many physicians as well, simply due to the fact that this subject was not taught in most medical schools until recently.

In case you are unfamiliar with this subject yourself, please contact your colleague, Dr. Riina Bray, Medical Director, Environmental Health Clinic, Woman’s College Hospital – Toronto.

Dr. Bray’s short statement provides some insight into this subject:

As a physician who has specialized in the area of environmental health for over 20 years, I am mortified at the lack of accountability regarding radio and microwave radiation use in the everyday lives of Canadians both young and old.

I am appalled by the poor, impractical, and unrealistic research done in this area and the lack of proper, relevant investigations that need to be done and have not.

As a physician, educator, advocate, and health care leader, I feel physicians are seriously lacking in the fundamentals of science of EMFs from a physical science, technological, and biological standpoint. They need to become aware of the EMF sources and how the characteristics of this radiation impact on the body. They need to understand the condition of EHS, which affects about 3% of the population severely, and how this condition is related to other coexisting medical conditions.

– Dr. Reena Bray

Subject: Your duty to protect the children

Re: Your duty to protect children, over BC Hydro

June 30, 2018:

Dear elected officials and ministers,

It used to be my the impression that the NDP would value science based decision making over corporate spin, but this appears to be an erroneous and wishful assumption.

Why is BC Hydro allowed such outrageous freedom, to knowingly deceive the public, free of governmental scrutiny and oversight?

I have asked Ministers Trevena, Dix and Mungall this question in previous emails and I am still waiting for a reply.

BC Hydro is treated by this government as a holy untouchable entity, free to do as they please, no matter the consequences.

It is disturbing when elected officials’ decision making is easily influenced by corporate interests and outdated science.

Under YOUR government, BC Hydro is allowed to practice public deception with absolute impunity, as they did with “smart” meters.

Under YOUR government, BC Hydro is poised to construct the underground substation, proposed under the Lord Roberts Annex School site in the West End of Vancouver, and damn the health consequences for the unfortunate children and staff.

It is shocking to learn that ministers of this government refuse to heed the repeated warning of 240 EMF scientists who, combined, published over 2000 peer reviewed papers on the detrimental effects of man made, electromagnetic fields and electrosmog, far below Canada’s Safety Code 6.   https://emfscientist.org/

BC has no such experts in this specialized field, whatsoever.

So far, you steadfastly ignored the right of children to protection and the suffering of the people.  Your government, who is supposed to have a political responsibility, still has not realized that negligent handling of political obligations to take precautions has long been proven in environmental degradation and disasters.

The Clark government before you was heavily invested in corporate interest, as the recent news of Ms. Clark’s appointment as corporate lobbyist to Shaw clearly illustrates.  We the people, who voted for you, have a right to expect better from you!

The Fast Ferry fiasco was not the NDP’s finest hour, but in comparison to the looming health crisis that will arise from the BC Hydro’s electrical substation in very close proximity to children, it will be remembered as a minor mistake.

As the current BC Government, it is your time to keep the children safe, and invoke the ‘Precautionary Principle’!

Thousands of physicians have signed this International Medical Appeal since it’s inception in 2002.

Health care professionals worldwide make observations that are consistent with, and increasingly confirmed by, scientific findings. Adverse effects of electromagnetic fields and the fundamental impairment of biological control mechanisms can occur well below current exposure limits and have been demonstrated, in some instances, for decades. The international BioInitiative Working Group (2007) documented a broad range of health risks based on more than 1500 scientific studies.

Would you knowingly expose your child, or grandchild, to an unhealthy electrosmog laden environment, such as this electrical substation?

A non scripted reply would be appreciated.

Kind regards,
Marcus Schluschen
