1) Despite warning several years ago about the addictive effect and harm done by excessive screen time due to “technological teaching”, the schools have continued to increase the focus on screen teaching because of industry pressure. Children are experiencing increased learning and behavioral difficulties not seen in countries, like Finland, where teachers do the teaching, books are used, and tablets are excluded.

3) In the UK, many people are refusing to use smeters because of cybersecurity and privacy concerns. The UK utilities report that their smeters are not connected to the internet and are, therefore, more secure. In BC, our smeters are connected to the internet and are promoted for this feature. Once the ZigBee chip is activated, all “smart” devices in the home (and all new appliances and electronics will be “smart”) will be reporting data to the smeter’s ZigBee, thereby connecting many things in your home to the internet without your knowledge or approval.

4) I suspect the UK utilities may not be telling their customers the complete truth regarding smeters not being connected to the internet, since that really is one of the key justifications for these things – gathering and sharing our data. The smeters are also the “key entry” point for hackers who want to get into the power grids.

The scientific fact that the human body is bio-electric seems to escape politicians and unfortunately many physicians as well, simply due to the fact that this subject was not taught in most medical schools until recently.

As a physician who has specialized in the area of environmental health for over 20 years, I am mortified at the lack of accountability regarding radio and microwave radiation use in the everyday lives of Canadians both young and old.
I am appalled by the poor, impractical, and unrealistic research done in this area and the lack of proper, relevant investigations that need to be done and have not.
As a physician, educator, advocate, and health care leader, I feel physicians are seriously lacking in the fundamentals of science of EMFs from a physical science, technological, and biological standpoint. They need to become aware of the EMF sources and how the characteristics of this radiation impact on the body. They need to understand the condition of EHS, which affects about 3% of the population severely, and how this condition is related to other coexisting medical conditions.

Dear elected officials and ministers,
It used to be my the impression that the NDP would value science based decision making over corporate spin, but this appears to be an erroneous and wishful assumption.
Why is BC Hydro allowed such outrageous freedom, to knowingly deceive the public, free of governmental scrutiny and oversight?
I have asked Ministers Trevena, Dix and Mungall this question in previous emails and I am still waiting for a reply.
BC Hydro is treated by this government as a holy untouchable entity, free to do as they please, no matter the consequences.
It is disturbing when elected officials’ decision making is easily influenced by corporate interests and outdated science.
Under YOUR government, BC Hydro is allowed to practice public deception with absolute impunity, as they did with “smart” meters.
Under YOUR government, BC Hydro is poised to construct the underground substation, proposed under the Lord Roberts Annex School site in the West End of Vancouver, and damn the health consequences for the unfortunate children and staff.
It is shocking to learn that ministers of this government refuse to heed the repeated warning of 240 EMF scientists who, combined, published over 2000 peer reviewed papers on the detrimental effects of man made, electromagnetic fields and electrosmog, far below Canada’s Safety Code 6. https://emfscientist.org/
BC has no such experts in this specialized field, whatsoever.
So far, you steadfastly ignored the right of children to protection and the suffering of the people. Your government, who is supposed to have a political responsibility, still has not realized that negligent handling of political obligations to take precautions has long been proven in environmental degradation and disasters.
The Clark government before you was heavily invested in corporate interest, as the recent news of Ms. Clark’s appointment as corporate lobbyist to Shaw clearly illustrates. We the people, who voted for you, have a right to expect better from you!
The Fast Ferry fiasco was not the NDP’s finest hour, but in comparison to the looming health crisis that will arise from the BC Hydro’s electrical substation in very close proximity to children, it will be remembered as a minor mistake.
As the current BC Government, it is your time to keep the children safe, and invoke the ‘Precautionary Principle’!
