1) Several of our members are fighting to have Wi-Fi-free schools for their children, some of whom are sensitive, some of whom have health issues that could be exacerbated by Wi-Fi, some who want to protect the health of their children. For some reason, even schools with fiber optic cable which used to provide internet access now must have Wi-Fi. Teachers and students are unnecessarily exposed to radiation all day, every school day – without choice. School Boards tell parents Wi-Fi is safe because the Provincial Health authorities tell them it is safe. This is a topic that people should be pushing with their school principals, school boards, teachers and other parents.

“No “safe” level of cell phone and wireless WiFi radiation exposure has been scientifically determined for children or pregnant women. Despite this, many millions of American taxpayer dollars have been spent making public schools “high tech” while tech inventors have been limiting their own kids’ use and sending them to private “low tech” schools.”

2) People who are sensitive suffer greatly – either become ill or are terribly inconvenienced – when travelling on BC Ferries. One woman was forced to make the crossing in the caged dog area!! Please see letter below.

(….Joint Committee on Accessibility
BC Ferries is committed to improving accessibility. There is a joint committee with representatives from various organizations for persons with special needs to better understand how BC Ferries can improve service for our customers with disabilities. The purpose of this committee is to review accessibility issues at BC Ferries and institute procedural and structural changes to improve accessibility. While vessel modifications are often restricted by the age and physical structure as well as financial considerations, our new ferries are being built with barrier-free transportation in mind.)

More and more and more people, including children, wear FitBits. There is absolutely nothing ‘fit’ about FitBits, as these short videos show. Chronic pain has become the norm in our society, even among the younger population.
The many comments to the second video, are disturbing. Bluetooth technology is worn by many, 24 hours a day, attached to their bodies. Pure madness!

4) ISED Minister says that the government will sell rights to the higher frequencies for 5G. The government makes billions of dollars from selling areas in the spectrum, even while knowing that by doing so, the health of Canadians and the environment will suffer. Telus says customers will be at a disadvantage unless higher frequencies (3.5Ghz) are sold in 2019. How would we be at a disadvantage? It’s the companies who profit from this.
Canada to hold key 5G spectrum auction in 2020, says Innovation Minister Bains
Telus says consumers will be at disadvantage if 3,500 MHz auction not held in 2019
“Canada’s government will auction key wireless spectrum for fifth-generation mobile networks in 2020, Innovation Minister Navdeep Bains said Wednesday.
“We believe this puts us in a relatively strong position relative to our international peers,” Bains said prior to his speech at the Canadian Telecom Summit in Toronto.
“We will still be ahead of Australia and Germany and will be (among) the top five countries when it comes to making spectrum available for 5G.”
Industry players — particularly Telus — have called for the auction of 3,500 megahertz spectrum in 2019 to keep up with other countries as smartphone makers bring out devices capable of using 5G networks.”

Letters:
Hi Sharon,
We just sent a letter of complaint to BC Ferries, after our recent trip to the Interior. I hope that others will complain as well.
I have run my own business for many years but would not have made it out the door if I would have treated my customers with such disrespect, as only a monopoly can.

Subject: dirty washrooms & Wi-Fi
Greetings, Customer Service,
We made our arduous ferry trips, including endless waiting, from Nanaimo to Horseshoe Bay on May 22 and returned on the 24th.
We paid full fare but, due to my electro-hypersensitivity, had to remain in the car, in the cargo hold of the vessel with no windows, while all other passengers were able to enjoy a visit to the restaurant and travel in comfort.
I am aware that I am not the only one who is treated like worthless cargo by your corporation. I know of several others who, just like me, are afflicted with electro hypersensitivty (EHS), who experience adverse health effects from Public Wi-Fi and cell phone electrosmog from other passengers.
Scientists call these highly uncomfortable physical reactions a correct biological response to an unnatural environment, as Wi-Fi emits unnatural pulsed radiation. Pulsed radiation is considered by medical science as: biologically active.
I experience Wi-Fi as intense pressure and burning sensation inside my head.
One lady, who just like me suffers from EHS, travelled as a passenger. Since the ferry is irradiated by Wi-Fi, she spent the entire trip in the dog compound! We pay full fare and many have asked repeatedly, including myself, to have radiation-free zones set aside for travelers who do not wish to be exposed to Wi-Fi and cell phone electrosmog. This would also include people with pacemakers and medical implants as these frequencies cause interference leading to medical emergencies.
Medical tests with college students revealed that cell phone radiation affects not only the blood of the cell phone user but also those who are at a distance of 6 feet away from the cell phone user, causing a rouleaux formation of blood cells, a.k.a. hypoxic blood clumping.
Like today with wireless devices, smokers used to have the right to smoke as they pleased, unrestricted on all vessels, even in the presence of children! It took decades before anything was done! In the meantime, non-smoking passengers and crew members paid a stiff price from second-hand smoke inhalation, in reduced health and, for many, a premature agonizing death.
In Germany, they do allow smokers their constitutional right by installing ‘smoking cubes’ at airports for passengers who do not care about their health. Inside these cubes, they can inhale cigarette smoke to their hearts content, without compromising the health of other passengers. A weird sight indeed!
Where is your human compassion for the growing number of people who suffer, just like me? Canadians like to speak about being a caring and compassionate people. From my experience communicating with BC Ferries, I learned that Canadians show a disturbing indifference to the plight of their fellow man. Your corporation has chosen to ignore the scientific data provided to you.
A side note:
The washrooms at the Horseshoe Bay terminal were smelly and dirty, with no waste basket! We have seen cleaner truck stops on our recent trip! The impression this leaves with tourists from other countries is: Canadians are a dirty people!
What happened to customer service? I had to wait 8 days for your reply! No business in the world would get away with this!
The customers are certainly not Kings, nor Queens, at BC Ferries. Your monopoly allows you to use passengers with disrespect!
I would like to be reimbursed, as I had to travel as cargo. A meaningful reply would be appreciated.
Your highly dissatisfied ‘customer’,
Benita Schluschen

Subject: re: Wi-Fi signals
Hello,
My husband and I will be travelling to the BC Interior for my mother’s 87th birthday on May 15th, returning May 17th.
I am very sensitive to Wi-Fi signals and all wireless devices.
Will I be allowed to stay in our vehicle for the ferry trip?
Kind regards,
Benita
