1) A very sad day. The NDP, under Premier Horgan, has proven that there is no difference between them and the Liberals. This decision with haunt the NDP for decades. Watch our rates increase to pay for this industry gift. Horgan has always expressed concern about costs. Yet he justifies continuation of this expensive project by saying we’re in for $4 billion so we have no choice but to keep on spending (who knows how much more).

“Marc Eliesen, former CEO of BC Hydro was interviewed again on CFAX at 5 tonight. He totally debunked John’s comments about site C costs being recoverable over time. In fact he said for all 70 years of amortization it would lose money and we the taxpayers would subsidize the dumping. Mr. Eliesen stated he personally made three submissions to the BCUC that John was privy to….and that the total package of information available to John was more than enough to make a reasoned decision against site C. He said for whatever reason John chose to ignore that factual information. He went on to say this is a very sad day for British Columbians….their hydro increases will keep going up substantially over time to cover the obscene costs of this boondoggle and the sick state of financial affairs at BC Hydro.
PS – Of casual interest, Mr. Eliesen suggested that listening to comments some days ago from Ms. Mungall sounded very much like she was former Energy and Mines Minister Bill Bennett.”

3) Dr. Girish Kumar has been leading the battle in India to reduce the proliferation of microwave radiation. He has managed to have cell towers removed from apartment buildings and schools, and, thanks to his efforts, India’s allowable limit of RF radiation is about 10% of that allowed by Health Canada’s Safety Code 6. Today, crores of people in India use cell phones for >4 hours per day. Children are more vulnerable and the brain tumor risk for them may be 400% more in 8 to 10 years if they use cell phones for >4 hours per day. Many countries advice that children below 12 years should not use cell phone or use it only for emergency.
I had earlier submitted a report on Cell Tower Radiation to Secretary, DOT in Dec. 2010. Inter-ministry committee report of Jan. 2011 had also listed several health hazards and had recommended 1/10th of ICNIRP norm (450mW/m2), which was implemented on Sep. 1, 2012. However, according to Bio-initiative Report, Austrian Medical Association Guidelines, etc., long term exposure of even 1mW/m2 is not safe.
Your immediate attention is required to protect the people of India from overuse of cell phones, high cell tower radiation, etc., which in turn also causes hazards to birds, animals, fruit yield of the trees, etc.

We applaud your decision of a smoke free environment for BC Ferries, as second hand smoke can have dire consequences over time.
Since Tobacco was declared a carcinogen, I’d like to draw your attention to another carcinogen which is often overlooked: second hand electro magnetic radiation, E-smog pollution, which in recent years skyrocketed on BC Ferries due to introduction of public Wi-Fi which blankets all corners of BC Ferries properties, and most vessels, with pulsed microwave radiation which does not exist anywhere in nature.
Wi-Fi electro smog imposes considerable hardships on many travelers, like my wife, who in recent years have become highly sensitive to Wi-Fi and cell tower radiation which inundates every corner of life. This sensitivity was formerly known as “microwave radiation sickness” and was generally restricted to certain occupations, largely military staff. Today, science refers to it as “electro hypersensitivity” or EHS.
The medical director of the Environmental Health Clinic, Dr. Riina Brae – Women’s College Hospital, Toronto, stated that we are witnessing an explosion of EHS victims in Canada.
Medical science estimates approx. 35% of the general population suffers some form of negative biological effects from wireless technologies, but most have not made the connection as most doctors remain untrained in EHS diagnosis, while about 5% suffer acute physical hardship which, in some cases, can have severe, life altering consequences.
Unfortunately my wife is among this latter group of EHS victims, and life changed dramatically for us since EHS struck with a vengeance. The common pleasures of life that we used to take for granted, like attending a movie, a concert, or visiting a restaurant, are no more. We moved to a remote area to be away from cell towers and city Wi-Fi.
EHS victims come from all walks of life, such as medical doctors, students, pilots, policemen, lab-technicians, architects, engineers, musicians, photographers, and even executives from Silicon Valley’s tech-industry. Young and old, EHS does not discriminate! For many, EHS has become life altering which even extends to the inability to work in their professions.
Shaw, Telus and Planetworks, etc. protect their vested interests by quoting Canada’s outdated Safety Code 6 which has been condemned by modern EMR medical research as biologically non-protective and utterly obsolete!
CCode 6 was initially intended for workers at federal industrial sites, for a limited time of exposure. It was never intended for 24/7 microwave radiation exposure of anyone, especially not for the unborn, children, the weak and elderly.
Health Canada’s own James McNamee admitted, before the Superior Court of Quebec, that Safety Code 6 does NOT consider biological effects, only thermal heating!
On recent ferry trips, my wife and I had to hide between trucks and cars to find a less irradiated area. Even there it was not good, so we waited outside on the freezing windy upper deck, as currently there is no E-smog Free Safe Zone on BC Ferries, anywhere.
Should travelers who pay full fare not be entitled to a reasonably pleasant ferry trip? Is it fair that electronically sensitive foot passengers have to sit in the dog enclosure, or freeze on the outer upper deck, just so that others can play with their devices?
EHS is the biologically correct response to an unnatural e-smog laden environment!
Would it be asking too much of BC Ferries to provide a designated E-smog Free Safe Zone, just as there have been smoke free zones in the past?
If you take a few minutes out of your busy schedule to gain basic knowledge of this growing global health issue you, as well as your family, will benefit from this information.

Dear Premier Horgan,
Your announcement today to just merrily continue on with the Site C destructive boondoggle initiated by the previous BC Liberal fascists defies comprehension. Voting NDP in the last election gave hope to many that things would be different under your watch, yet your action today has destroyed any such notion. Once more the citizens of BC have been sold out for financial rape by BC Hydro and who knows what else in the years to come.
The previous government and their buddies such as David Emerson pocketed millions of dollars from the illegal imposition of “smart” meters on the unsuspecting citizens of BC. For years non standard accounting procedures were used to “cook the books”. Contracts with Accenture (previously the disgraced Arthur Anderson group behind the Enron scandal) always exceeded budgeted expectations. The Clean Energy Act and related government directives emasculated the BC Utilities Commission effectively preventing their ‘Independent” body from any meaningful oversight of multi-billion dollar BC Hydro projects. The BC Liberals “balanced budgets” and “debt free BC” propaganda never mentioned that the real increase in provincial debt and contractual liabilities had ballooned from approximately 35 billion dollars to just under 190 billion dollars since they took office in the early part of this century.
Now it seems your government is on the same trajectory toward future doom. Common sense would have been to terminate Site C continuation (i.e. cut your losses ASAP) for a number of reasons. Financing a 12 billion dollar project over the next 70 years is expected to result in a 100 billion dollar total cost. Selling any excess power at one third the cost of generation is also not a great idea. Ignoring aboriginal concerns in a province consisting of mostly unceded lands is just welcoming expensive litigation. Building an earthen dam on unstable ground is going to drive up final costs considerably, as is already evidenced by the remedial costs of reappearing tension cracks. Destroying Peace River families and agricultural land by flooding to build a reservoir is an outrageous assault on the lives of many as well as the environment. The final construction costs of Site C are nothing but a guesstimate today as the future may not unfold exactly as planned. With all the natural gas available in this province, it would have been a fraction of estimated Site C costs to build a clean and efficient natural gas electricity generation project.
The reasons you gave for basing your Site C decision on seem to cater mainly to the corporate elite concerned with credit rating and other financial considerations, rather than what the majority of voters expected the NDP to do when finally given the opportunity to reverse the unwanted actions of the BC Liberals.
Because of this blatant betrayal of citizen’s concerns, it is unlikely your government will remain in power.
