1) ITRON’s new generation of smeters is better able to gather more data remotely and, perhaps, control more things, such as solar input. I will ask some technical people for their input about this new smeter and will share anything significant that I learn. I wonder if BC Hydro and FortisBC will be spending more of our money to “upgrade” to these. I doubt they will tell us.

3) Various US media, not the major ones as far as I am aware, are sharing and speaking about The Nation’s article about how industry is stifling and controlling information about cell phone safety. Isn’t it odd that no Canadian media has re-circulated this significant article? Please, try to get some of these articles (by The Nation, Democracy Now, On Point (NPR)) that were in last night’s update) published in your local newspapers and, perhaps, even the major media outlets (the links are below this article in case you missed them).

Dear Mayor and Council,
Here is more information regarding the growing concern over and resistance to the proliferation of microwave emitting devices. At this point, if you decided to act on behalf of the citizens you are charged with protecting, you would be following an example already set in other regions with no fear of taking a leadership role in that direction. As I have said in previous emails, the concern and resistance to these devices is only growing.
In one community in Maryland, people are fighting the installation of microcells in residential neighbourhoods. This YouTube of a meeting this week shows members of the community presenting their concerns to Council. At around min. 34 a member of Environmental Health Trust, Theodora Scarato speaks about the NTP review panel which she attended, and the Ramazzini report. This info needs to be provided to every City Council because the public health of the community is the responsibility of local government.

It is being called the next generation of wireless technology, but some residents in Montgomery County said new cell station equipment would come at a tremendous cost to the community.
One thing that was not discussed is that, according to Blake Levitt, industry will be using phased array antenna design to boost the power of the milliwave transmitters dramatically, allowing the waves to travel much farther and to penetrate everything much more efficiently. More information about how the NTP study was conducted and the review process by the peer review panel. This panel arrived at a significant decision that THERE IS CLEAR EVIDENCE OF CARCINOGENICITY. This should change the way agencies like Health Canada and our provincial health authorities treat microwave radiation. The precautionary principle is called for and we should demand that important steps be taken now, like putting labels on cell phones and removing Wi-Fi from schools and smeters from homes.

An expert panel recommended the National Toxicology Program indicate stronger evidence that cell phone radiofrequency radiation caused tumors in rats.
Although I thank you both for the confirmation of receipt of my email which I know is coming, I would appreciate a reaction from you or better yet, some action on this growing problem. It’s a growing problem because Telecom corporations continue to inundate our streets with microcells and cell towers continue to be erected.
Take this information seriously. This is going to create a burgeoning problem for our health care system and suffering for the population…. not to mention the ensuing lawsuits.
